Pious Alexander "Alex" Wise, age 79 of Saint Joe, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at his home.  He was born April 7, 1942 in Marion County.  He was a retired farmer and construction worker.  He was an amazing provider, husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Minnie Lee Shively Wise; one son, Pious Alexander Wise, Jr.; one granddaughter, Brianna Washington; two sisters, Imogene White (Glen) and Dorothy Cornett (Ray); one brother, Jim Wise (Ailene).

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Cornett Wise, one son, Tommy Wise, three daughters, Sue Wise, Tammy Rakes (Ricky) and Melinda Wise; two sisters, Clydine Sanders (Edwards) and Bertha Richerson (Kenneth); eight grandchildren, Jeremy Harris (April), Dustin Harris, Angel Brockman (Andrew), Sam Hayden, Joey Wise, Latrichia Lake (Justin), Christina Bagby (Brian) and Miya Washington; 10 great grandchildren; a host of loved ones.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Saint Joe Community Center, 2915 Saint Joe Road, Raywick.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  A bereavement meal will follow.
