Benedict Joseph "Ben" Peterson, Jr. age 68 of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville.  He was born March 31, 1950 in Marion County.  He formerly owned and operated the old "Ben's Restaurant and Disco" and "White's Castle" in Lebanon.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era.

He was preceded in death by parents, Benedict Joseph Peterson Sr. and Martha Ann "Pockey" Wallace Peterson; one daughter, Carrey Dickerson; one brother Vic Peterson.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Mae Mattingly Peterson, three daughters, Debra Calvin (Kevin) of Chillicothe, Ohio, Elissa Dawn Meeks of Lebanon and Rachel Lewis (Jamie) of Gravel Switch; one son, Cleave Hourigan (Amanda) of Hampton, Florida; five sisters, Monzell Perry (Dennis) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sue Nicol (Mark) of Atlanta, Georgia, Pat Abell of Cape Gerardo, Missouri, Joyce Gaddie of Lebanon and Dee Dee Peterson of Mount Washington; one sister-in-law, Ann Peterson of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren, Ashley McCory (Tyler), Cheyenne Hourigan, Samantha Hourigan, Sarah Hourigan, Ethan Hourigan, Chris Wheeler, Caleb Lewis, Torrie Lewis, Grace Meeks, Amelia Meeks, Samuel Calvin, Jacob Calvin and Patrick Dickerson; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Hannah and Lilly Hannah.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Friday, April 20, 2018 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.  Chaplain Mike Fenwick will officiate.  Burial will follow in Lebanon National Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 10 AM until 1 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home.

Memorials may go toward funeral expenses and may be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Samuel Calvin, Jacob Calvin, Caleb Lewis, Chris Wheeler, Patrick Dickerson and Lancaster Smith.
