Katherine Bernice Mattingly, age 79 of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at her residence.

She was born November 2, 1936 in Saint Francis to the late Benjamin Franklin and Anna Alvey Bowman. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Amanda Mattingly Schelonka; two sisters, Margaret Jacob and Mary Agnes Mills; four brothers, William Patrick, Walter Thomas "Buster", John Edward "J.E." and Frank Bowman.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gerald Dant Mattingly; her beloved dog Bosco; one son, Kenneth Mattingly of Indianapolis; four daughters, Sheila Garner, Karen Cocke (Robert), Phyllis Paquette and Wendy Talcott (Jacob) all of Indianapolis; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, October 10, 2016 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will officiate.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 6 PM.
