Betty Sue Riggs Smith, age 77 of Mount Washington, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024 at Baptist Health Louisville.  She was born October 27, 1946 in Holy Cross.  She was a mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.  She was a Baptist by faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ules and Mary Ursula Newton Riggs; nine siblings, Mary Theresa Fox, Thomas Harold Riggs, Sr., James Russell Riggs, James Walter Riggs, Beulah Burgin, Bernadine Smith, Joe Cyril Riggs, Joseph David Riggs, and infant Timmy Riggs.

Survivors include three children, Angie Bryant (Shane) of Mount Washington, Tony Whelan, and Marty Whelan of Louisville; eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Flannery of Mount Washington and Fay Smith of Fayetteville, Ohio.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Friday, July 26, 2024 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.  Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The visitation will be 3-8 pm Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home.
