William Clyde "Bill" Corbett, age 76 of Loretto, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at Springview Hospital in Lebanon. He was born March 21, 1946 in Marion County. He was a retired employee of General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a retired Army Reservist. He was a former EMT, Firefighter and Loretto City Commissioner. He was a member of the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henry and Mary Beulah Nalley Corbett; one infant son, Joseph Patrick Corbett; one brother, Steve Corbett; his father and mother-in-law, Jerome and Monica Ballard; one son-in-law, Jack Brahm; three brothers-in-law, Wayne Miles, Dickie Osborne and Robert Ballard; his dog "Pug".
Survivors include his wife of nearly 53 years, Debbie Ballard Corbett; four daughters, Kim Robey (James), Patti Jo Byrd (Clayton), Susan Benton (Nathan) and Sarah Johnston (Daniel) all of Loretto; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Diane Hughes (Eddie) of Loretto; two brothers, Joe Corbett (Michaela) of Loretto and Larry Corbett (Faye) of Holy Cross; two sisters-in-law, Denise Miles of Loretto and Cindy Osborne of Lebanon; one brother-in-law, Jerry Ballard (Bev) of Holy Cross.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Rev. Neal Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow in Lebanon National Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 pm Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 pm. The visitation and Funeral will be livestreamed onto the Mattingly Funeral Home facebook page.
Pallbearers are Scott Byrd, Justin Byrd, Clayton Byrd, Nathan Benton, Patrick Benton, Alexander Ford, Timothy Ford and Daniel Johnston; Honorary Pallbearers are Jesse Benton and Joe Benton.
