Joseph Robert "Bob" Cissell, age 80 of Loretto, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025 at Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center. Born on March 30, 1945, in Loretto, Bob was raised in the Catholic faith and lived a life of service and dedication to his community and country. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Specialist 4th class and the Vietnam Service Medal for his contributions. He was a retired employee of Lily-Tulip in Bardstown and later worked as a skilled handyman.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Leo and Mary Zita Miles Cissell; two sisters, Mary Geneva Walker and Mary Florence Sapp; six brothers, Joseph Bernard, Joseph Harold, Joseph Anthony "Tony", Joseph Justin "Joe", Joseph Donald, and Joseph Charles Cissell.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Jane Nugent (Ray) of Loretto; one brother, Joseph Leon Cissell (Rose) of Loretto; one sister-in-law, Norma Jean Cissell of Loretto; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto. Rev. Richard T. Goodin will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
The visitation is 3-7 pm Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6 pm.

Pallbearers are Frank Walker, Mark Sapp, Tom Cissell, Kevin Cissell, Joey Cissell, Joe Nugent, and Ben Brahm; Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Thompson, Leon Hamilton, Bobby Miles, Jerry Elder, Frank Mattingly, Billy Blair, and Julian Thompson.
