Bonnie Sue Blair, age 81 of Smiths Grove, formerly of New Hope, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023.  She was born January 5, 1942, in Holy Cross.  She was a homemaker and later worked as a tour guide at Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home in Hodgenville.  She was a former member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Blair, Jr. (died September 21, 2021); her parents, Thomas Estel and Mary Earnett Mattingly Ballard; three siblings, Judy Lynn Ballard, Stanley Ballard and Randall Ballard.

Survivors include two children, Gene Blair (Joyce) of Bowling Green and Melissa Towery (Clark) of Scottsville; six grandchildren, Drew Strickland, William Robert Blair, Lucas Corey Blair, Addison Downing (Ty), Quinn Towery and Mason Towery; three step grandchildren, Cody Moore, Neva Fraizer and Colton Fraizer; one great granddaughter, Elaina Downing: two brothers, Mike Ballard of Louisville, and Dan Ballard (Mary Ellen) of Bardstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon EST Monday, November 13, 2023, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope.  Rev. Matthew Hardesty will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 pm Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Deacon Dean R. Giulitto.
