Brenda Sue Wheatley

Brenda Sue Wheatley, 67, passed away on September 26, 2026 at Taylor County Hospital surrounded by her family.

Brenda was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and sister-in-law anyone could wish for. She truly worshipped her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The love she gave to her entire family is irreplaceable. She also had a very special bond with her sister. The two were rarely seen apart. They were often confused as twins and actually were closer than probably most actual twins are. The two also shared a love of the beach, pool and sun. Brenda dedicated her life to raising kids, starting with her siblings, then her children and even grandchildren. Although this was hard, she did it well!!! To say that Brenda will be missed is such an understatement. She was the kindest person you could ever meet. She was always willing to help anyone who needed help. She touched more lives than she even realized. But in true Brenda fashion, she would never want any attention for all the good she did on this earth. Brenda was true Christian and had a great relationship with the Lord. As hard as it is for her family and loved ones to say goodbye, they can all take solace in knowing she went home to be with Jesus. She always said she did not want a mansion in the sky just a villa on the beach!!!

She was preceded in death by her father, Tim Miles, her mother and stepfather, Martha and Junior Brinley and her brother, Steve Miles.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Mitchell Wheatley. The two literally grew up together. The love they shared was a love most will never know. They were truly blessed to have the other.

She is also survived by her children who she adored, David Wheatley (Nicole) of Bardstown, Rosalyn Mattingly of Springfield, Emily Wheatley of Lebanon and Casey Jo Wheatley of St. Joe; her grandchildren Sydney Mattingly (Jarred), Ethan Wheatley, Kylie Summers, Laney Summers (Josh), Railee Gordon, Carson Wheatley, Miles Osborne and Kayden Hunt; her great grandchildren, Layton Summers, Silas Halcomb and Ivory Summers. She is also survived by her siblings Billy Miles of Springfield, Doug Miles of Bloomfield and Jan Brady (Wally) of Lebanon. Other survivors include her in-laws who were more like siblings than in-laws, Sharon Cecil (Larry), Jo Lunsford (Jim), Jerry Wheatley (Sharon), Chris Wheatley (Bridgett), Nora Luckett and Allison Garrett (Jimmy) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved and adored her as well.

Funeral Services for Brenda Sue Wheatley will be held at 11 am Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Mattingly Funeral Home 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Rev. Neal Gordon will officiate. Interment will follow in Saint Augustine Cemetery.

The visitation is 4-8 pm Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Ethan Wheatley, Carson Wheatley, Wally Brady, Doug Miles, Jerry Wheatley, and Chris Wheatley.

Honorary Pallbearers are Sydney Mattingly, Kylie Summers, Laney Summers, Railee Gordon, Miles Osborne and Kayden Hunt.

Mattingly Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials may go to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
