Charles Otho "Bud" Newton, age 86 of Loretto, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
He was born August 30, 1927 in Holy Cross. He was a former employee of Willett Distillery and Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Marion and Lula Catherine Cissell Newton, five sisters, Elizabeth Nalley, Alice Cissell McIntyre, Ursula Riggs, Lula Taylor and Anna Marie Newton, four brothers, Robert, Charlie, J.P. and Tommy Newton, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Cattie Clark Newton, two daughters, Joyce Lawson (James) of Cox's Creek and Lisa Hutchins (Doug) of Saint Francis, nine sons, Roger Newton, Timmy Newton (Arlene), Keith Newton (Lisa) and Les Newton all of Springfield, Ricky Newton (Donna), Calvin Newton, Terry Newton and Dale Newton (Susan) all of Loretto and Rob Newton of Louisville, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Newton of Bardstown and Arletha Miles of Holy Cross and one brother, Eugene Newton of Holy Cross.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 N. St. Francis Road, Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 5 PM.
