Obituary

Catherine Eunice Hicks, age 97 of New Hope, passed away June 3, 2024, at the Loretto Living Center at Loretto Motherhouse.  She was born August 16, 1926, in New Hope.  She retired from Jim Beam Distillery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Hardin and Anna Maria Williams Williamson; five children, Ted Hicks, Sharon Egorow, infant Kenneth Hicks, David Hicks, and Janice Hicks; one son-in-law, Billy Hall; one grandchild, Deanna Hicks; eight siblings, David, Thomas, Edward, Joseph Hardin, and Benedict Williamson, Mildred Miles, Helen Bell and Hazel Van Becelaere.

Survivors include eight children, Rick Hicks (Sue) of Lexington, Steve Hicks (Mary Lois) of New Hope, Lois Mattingly (Joe Larry) of New Haven, Debbie Morris of New Hope, Nancy Newton (Stuart) of Loretto, Donald Hicks (Annette) of New Hope, Judy Masterson (Fuzz) of New Haven, and Lisa Hall of Bardstown; 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Bobby Williamson (Virginia), of North Brook, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Friday, June 7, 2024, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope.  Rev. Matthew Hardesty will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The visitation will be 4-8 pm Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm.
