Charles Coleman Thompson, Sr., age 83 of Louisville, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023.  He was born August 20, 1940, in St. Joseph (Marion County), Kentucky, to the late Jack and Mildred Martin Thompson, the eleventh of thirteen children.  He was a longtime member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Robert Thompson, and siblings, Aileen, Richard, Howard, Marcella, Delores, Paul Alford, Emogene, Conrad, Sarah Frances, Jane, and Linda Sue, as well as several dear brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary Joyce Thomas Thompson; his three children, Chuck, Kenny (Sue Ann), and Lori Wilson; his seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis Thompson (Bernadette); his sister-in-law, Arlene Thompson; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Sunday at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 155 Stringer Lane in Mount Washington, with a prayer service at 7 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Monday, November 27, 2023, at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, officiated by his son, Archbishop Charles C. Thompson of Indianapolis and concelebrated by his nephew, Fr. Robert Dale Cieslik along with his pastor, Fr. Brandon DeToma, and other clergy.  Interment will follow at approximately 2 pm in Saint Charles Cemetery in Saint Mary's, KY.
