Mary Coletta Bickett, age 96 of Raywick, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. She was born February 19, 1925, in New Haven. She formerly worked as a nutritionist with the Marion County Extension Service with more than 40 years of service. She was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Coletta was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. "Squire" Bickett (1996); one daughter, Patricia Gaddie; one grandson, Joey Bickett; her parents, Carl Bernard and Vernetta "Mollie" Vittitow Kirkpatrick; six sisters, Florence Thompson, Evelyn Spalding, Vernetta Mouser, Louise Chaney, Norma Nix and Kathleen Stiles; three brothers, Jimmy, Jackie and E.C. Kirkpatrick.
Survivors include eight children, Louis Earl Bickett and Joe Keith Bickett, both of Raywick, Marceline Cecil (Joe Eddie) of Saint Francis, Kathleen Cecil (Danny), Beverly Fields (Ricky), Charlie Bickett, Jimmy Bickett and Robbie Bickett (Melissa) all of Raywick; 13 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and one step great-great grandson; two sisters, Bernice Beaven of Lexington and Doris Reid of Louisville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Friday, August 6, 2021, at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick. Rev. Jim Graf will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren.
