Joseph Cooper Mattingly, age 77 of Loretto, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Spring View Hospital.  He was born September 23, 1944 in Ottawa, Illinois.  He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown with 32 years of service.  He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.  He enjoyed woodworking, crafting, hunting and fishing.  He was also an avid UK fan.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tanya Wade; his parents, Joseph Daniel and Addie Mayola Carrico Mattingly; one brother, Gary Mattingly.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Margaret Thompson Mattingly; one daughter, Jennifer Richerson (Allen) of Lebanon; one son, Greg Mattingly (Cathy) of Lebanon; one son-in-law, Doug Wade of Loretto; four grandchildren, Brandi Bittikofer, Jami Miller (Mike), Ryan Mattingly and Kristian Richerson; one great-granddaughter, Hailey Graham; two sisters, Charlotte Mattingly (Ricky) and Diane Bradshaw all of Lebanon; one sister-in-law, Stephanie Mattingly of Loretto.

Funeral Services will be held 11 am Monday, November 22, 2021 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  Burial will follow in Lebanon National Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.  The funeral and prayer service will be livestreamed onto the Mattingly Funeral Home facebook page.

Visitation is 3-8 pm Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 pm.

Pallbearers are his fellow members of the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
