IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darrell
Mattingly
November 17, 1941 – June 13, 2021
Thomas Darrell Mattingly, age 79 of Loretto, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. He was born November 17, 1941, in Marion County. He was a former employee of Dolph Map Company in Fort Lauderdale and was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Willett Mattingly, Sr.; his mother, Angela "Ann" Hutchins Leake; his stepfather, Charles E. "Pete" Leake; his brother, John W. "Bill" Mattingly; his nephew, John Michael Mattingly.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Kathy Mattingly of Louisville; three nephews, Chris Mattingly (Heather), Matthew Mattingly (Kate Dennis) and David Mattingly (Amanda LeDuke); one niece, Sarah Mattingly; two great nephews, Sylvan and Silas Mattingly; two aunts, Rose Marie Covert of Republic, Washington, and Nancy Westfall (Maurice) of Nicholasville.
Darrell was the kindest, most gentle person we have ever known. He cared for his mother Ann at home until her death last year in January. His niece and nephews and great nephews adored him. He was always available to help them. When the great nephews were little, they always thought his lap was the very best place to sit. He was a wonderful son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He loved all of us and we truly miss his calm, peaceful presence in our lives.
We want to thank Darrell's friend Randy Mattingly for all the support, assistance, and friendship he gave Darrell during his long illness. He made Darrell's life so much better with his kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 17th, 2021, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto. Rev. Richard Goodin will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
