David Martin Thompson, age 68 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at VA Medical Center in Louisville.
He was born January 6, 1946 in Marion County. He was a retired employee of Kingbrook Window and Door Company in Shelbyville and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Effie Mae Thompson and one brother, Lawrence Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Mary O'Bryan Thompson; three daughters, Edith Clay (Dave) of Jacksonville, Florida, Tracy Clark (Kyle) and Amanda Kreutzer (Matt) all of Shepherdsville; two sons, Keith and Joe Thompson, both of Louisville; 10 grandchildren, John, Dave and Bryan Thompson, Alex and James Clay, Paige, Sara and Catherine Clark, Katie Jenkins and Lauren Kreutzer; seven sisters, Edith Miles (Marion) of Saint Francis, Mae Mattingly (Frank) of Lebanon, Patsy Gottschalk (Clay) of Paducah, Mary Margaret Mattingly (Cooper) of Loretto, Celestine Kirchhoff (Fred) of Lawrenceburg, Karen Thompson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Theresa Woods (Glenn) of Henryville; five brothers, John Thompson (Nadine) of Lawrenceburg, Terry Thompson (Dina) of Saint Francis, Dennis Thompson (Clara) of Plano, TX, Joe Thompson of Lexington and Maurice Thompson (Maggie) of Eastern Kentucky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, October 24, 2014 at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis. Rev. Bill Bowling will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 2-8 PM Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
