Joseph Donald "Donnie" Browning, age 86 of Saint Mary's, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 at his home, with his family by his side. He was born December 8, 1938 in Marion County. He formerly owned and operated Browning Trucking Company. He was a loving and devoted husband, daddy, papaw and great papaw. He loved baseball and fittingly passed away on opening day. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Saint Charles Catholic Church.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henry and Mary Inez Raley Browning; eight siblings, Eleanor Bland, Joe Frank Browning, William Henry Browning, Betty Hamilton, Mary Margaret Spalding, Eddie Browning, Susan Smith, and Leon Browning.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret "Sitter" Browning; four children, Glenda Beaven (Michael) of Harrodsburg, Mickey Browning (Grace) of Lebanon, Beth Carrico (Rick) of Versailles, and Paula Browning Farmer of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren, Lindsey, Derek, and John Beaven, Brian Purdy, Cody and Lexie Browning, Trey and Raylee Carrico, Stephanie Clark, and Alice Russell; two great grandchildren, Barrett Donald Browning and Millie Margaret Russell, and three on the way; one brother, John Dennie Browning (Christine) of Lebanon; his loving cat, Miss Kitty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Saint Charles Catholic Church, 675 Highway 327, Lebanon. Very Rev. Scott J. Wimsett, V. F. will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The visitation is 4-8 pm Monday and 8 am – 10:30 am Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm Monday by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorials may go to Saint Charles Cemetery Fund, c/o the church or Hosparus Green River, 462 N. Bypass Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718.
Pallbearers are his five grandsons and Joe Browning, Joe Osborne, Kenny Hamilton, Timmy Peavy, Rick Carrico, and Michael Beaven; Honorary Pallbearers are his five granddaughters and Lisa Culver and the Aides, Nurses, and staff of Village of Lebanon.
