James Earl Mattingly, age 85 of Loretto, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at his residence.
He was born December 2, 1930 in Marion County. He was retired employee of General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Mae Mattingly; one daughter, Deborah Sue "Debbie" Cambron; his parents, James Pink and Minnie Marie Mattingly; four sisters, Sandra Sue Williamson, Catherine Louise Williamson and infants Martha Ann and Dorothy Jean Mattingly; one brother, Joseph Patrick Mattingly.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Cambron of Cox's Creek and Kay Mattingly (Glenn) of Saint Francis; one son, Eddie Mattingly (Joan) of Loretto; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Williamson (Paul) and Lois Ann Hagan, all of Saint Francis; one brother, Carl Dean Mattingly (Jeanie) of Loretto; special friend, Clara Dewitt of New Hope.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, August 22, 2016 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto. The Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Saturday and 3-8 PM Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a rosary service at 7 PM Saturday and a prayer service at 7 PM Sunday by The Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are Jamie Hagan, Dillon Cambron, Jason Mattingly, Brad Mattingly, Ryan Mattingly and Carl Dean Mattingly.
