Edward William O’Bryan, 73, passed away on October 27, 2026 at Bardstown Health and Rehabilitation. Born February 13, 1953, he was known for his sense of humor, quiet generosity, and unapologetic opinions. Edward worked as a brick and stone mason, a profession he loved and excelled in. He was a member of the Catholic faith and found joy in the simple things — a morning coffee, time with family, a cold beer and a well-told story. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his son, James (Jim) O'Bryan, mother; Ruby O’Bryan, and brother; Paul O’Bryan.
He is survived by his father, Charles A. O’Bryan; two brothers, Charles O’Bryan (Jo Kaye) and Joseph O’Bryan, and two sisters, Lucy Greenwell and Marietta Rutledge (Frank). His son, Kelly O’Bryan, daughter, Brooke Smoak, eight grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish his memory are his extended family, the Lanham's, who cared for him as their own.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church street, New Hope. Rev. A. Biju Chathely, C.M.I. will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The visitation is 5-8 pm Friday and 9-10:30 am Saturday at Mattingly Funeral Home 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
