Mary Estelle Ballard, age 87 of Holy Cross, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx.

She was born March 20, 1927 in Saint Francis to the late Adrian and Elizabeth Rafferty Cambron. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Philip Ballard; seven sisters, Margaret Gootee, Louise David, Gladys Smith, Jeanette Miles, Geraldine Smith, Helen Cambron and Darnell Napper; two brothers, Everette and Samuel Cambron.

Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Miles (Kevin) of Bardstown, Jane Borders (Bob) of Owensboro and Diane Corbett (Wallace) of Lexington; two sons, Steven Ballard (Martha Lynn) of Loretto and Kenny Ballard (Nancy) of Saint Francis; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 N. Saint Francis Road, Loretto. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Emil Kandor will be the celebrant with Rev. Deacon Dennis May assisting.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday, August 15, 2014 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM.

Pallbearers are grandsons: Jay Ballard, Brian Ballard, Ken Ballard, Anthony Ballard, Joey Borders, Jeff Miles and William Corbett.
Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughters: Lisa Hess, Tricia Grimes, Maria Pearl, Teresa Masterson, Sarah Wright, Michaela Grundy, Shannon Gleason, Brittany Borders and Jessica Gumbert.
