Obituary
Eunice Lyon Bowling, age 91 of Loretto, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary, Nerinx, KY.
Eunice was born December 23, 1921 and was a lifelong resident of Loretto. She served 35 years on the board of the old "Bank of Loretto", was a former board member of Saint Catharine College, a graduate of Bethlehem Academy and a lifelong member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph Herbert and Mabel Cambron Lyon, one sister, Grace Lyon Mattingly, three brothers, Henry Lyon, Rev. George Lyon OSB and Bro. Brian Lyon CSC.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Bob Bowling, Sr., two sons, Bob Bowling, Jr. (Lynnette) of LaGrange and Phil Bowling (Lynne) of Bardstown, one daughter, Phyllis Bowling of Bardstown, five grandchildren, Joe, Rob, Matt and Sarah Bowling and Kate Johnson, five great-grandchildren, one sister, Hazel Miles of Louisville, three brothers, Basil Lyon of Loretto, Raphael Lyon (Betty) and Rev. Joseph A. Lyon all of Louisville, and sister-in-law, Grace Lyon of Loretto.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Saint Francis of Assisi Church followed by burial in the church cemetery. Revs. R. Joseph Hemmerle and Joseph A. Lyon will concelebrate.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 5 PM.
