Frances Mae Osbourne Peterson, age 83 of Loretto, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Norton Women's & Children's Hospital in Louisville.

Frances was born December 30, 1933 in Washington County. She was a dedicated caregiver at Loretto Motherhouse for many years and also volunteered at Springview Hospital. She was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church and was a choir member there for many years. She also enjoyed being involved in the Loretto Senior Citizens group. She loved seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially the babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Bertrand and Mary Cecilia Spalding Osbourne; one sister, Alice Graves and one brother, Bro. Peter Osbourne O.P..

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Henry Peterson; six daughters, Karen Rogers (Gerry) of Lebanon, Janet Oliver (Bill) and Julia Hardy (Jesse) all of Louisville, Ann Lair (Andy) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Susie Spalding (Marty) of Mooresville, North Carolina and Robin Mills (Kenny) of Raywick; three sons, Kenny Peterson (Sandy) of Lebanon, Greg Peterson of Polk City, Florida and Thad Peterson (Kim) of Loretto; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joann Smith (Charles Owen) of Lebanon; two brothers, Sidney Osbourne (Ruth Ann) of Springfield and Bill Osbourne (Terri) of Bardstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, June 5, 2017 at Saint Charles Catholic Church, 675 Highway 327, Lebanon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. David W. Naylor will preside.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
