Alice Geneva Thomas, age 87 formerly of New Haven, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Eastern Star Home in Louisville following a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Felix Thomas of New Haven; her parents, James Raymond and Luetta Nalley Riggs of Loretto; six siblings, Mildred Wimsatt, Effie Mattingly, Myrt Wise, Colbert, Harlan and Charles Riggs.

Survivors include two sisters, Barbara Hagan (Leroy) of Louisville, Linda Hagan of Jeffersonville, Indiana; 24 nieces and nephews.

Her sisters wish to express sincere gratitude to the following: Dr. Robert Todd, Nurses Ruby, Nancy, Tasha and all staff at Eastern Star Home where Geneva resided the past three years; Craig, Bill, Linda Goss, nurses at Baptist Hospital East; Sister Catherine and volunteers at St. Brigid Catholic Church; Gerard Mattingly (nephew) of Louisville for his frequent visits and support; Laura & Nursing Staff at Hosparus.

Per her request, viewing by family and close friends only will be held at 11 AM – 1 PM Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with burial to follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery in Bardstown. Deacon Sam Filiatreau will officiate.

Per her request, expressions of sympathy are to be made in the form of prayers for the suffering.
