Francis Gerald Fogle, age 87 of Holy Cross, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx.
He was born December 17, 1928 in Holy Cross. He was a Farmer, a retired employee of Cissell Manufacturing in Louisville, a former Marion County Deputy Sheriff and a lifelong active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Emanuel and Nannie Estelle Hicks Fogle; one infant son, Joseph Marion Fogle; three sisters, Dimelda Thompson, Evelyn McIntyre and Helen Spalding Green; five brothers, Billy, Otho, Robert, Avon and infant Dannie Fogle.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Barbara Smith Fogle; five daughters, Yvonne Ballard (Alan) of Forsyth, Georgia, Sheila Beaven (Dick) of Henderson, Colette Hill (Bobby) of Springfield, Madeline Thompson (Gomer) of Saint Francis and Leigh Ann Fogle of Holy Cross; five sons, Alan Fogle (Linda) of Beersheba Springs, Tennessee, DeWayne Fogle (Debra) of Eva, Alabama, Brad Fogle (Donna) and Smith Fogle all of Holy Cross and Bart Fogle of Loretto; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one brother Randall Fogle (Henrietta) of Holy Cross.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 PM by The Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
