Hansford Cull Lanham, age 92 of Fairdale, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville.
He was born February 8, 1922 in Marion County. He was a retired employee of Gamble Brothers in Louisville and a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Fairdale. He served in the Army during World War II and was awarded two bronze service stars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna G. Miles Lanham; his parents, Brisco and Mary Lois Phillips Lanham; two sons, Larry and Joe Lanham.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Broughton of Jeffersonville, IN and Cathy Coy (Frank Franzell) of Fairdale, two sons, Charles Lanham of Mount Washington and Leonard Lanham (Judith) of Shepherdsville; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, January 30, 2015 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Emil Kandor will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4-8 PM Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
