Hazel Ann Fowler

Hazel Ann Downs Fowler, 89, of Louisville, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Audubon Hospital. Ann was born in Raywick, Kentucky on June 27, 1936.

Ann and her husband, Lee, raised four children in Louisville. She had a keen eye for decorating and loved to search for antiques, hold estate sales, and entertain family and friends. She adored dogs. Ann was quite the conversationalist, told entertaining stories and never met a stranger.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Joseph Lee Fowler; her parents, Thomas Hayes and Anna Lee Gribbins Downs; and five siblings, Thomas Gerald Downs, Sr., Catherine Rose Mills, Charles Henry Downs, William Robert Downs, and Joseph Carroll Downs.

Survivors include four children, Lee Ann Chroneos, John Fowler (Kim), Jim Fowler (Paula), Dana Goldman (Mitch); six grandchildren, Ben Chroneos, Christopher Fowler, Joey Fowler, Drew Daudelin, Meri Fowler, and Audrey Fowler; and three great grandchildren. For her last 18 years, Ann enjoyed sharing her life with William Todd, her dear companion, along with their dogs Josie and Charlie. Also surviving are three siblings, Theresa Thomas, Mary Lou Bright, and Jimmy Downs.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am Monday, May 4, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick. Very Rev. Scott J. Wimsett, V. F. will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The visitation is 3-7 pm Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.
