Joseph Howard Hutchins, age 81 of Loretto, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 17, 1941 in Holy Cross.  He was farmer and a retired employee of G.E. Appliance Park with 30 years of service.  He was a former employee of the Marion County Detention Center and The Lebanon Enterprise.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Liguori Sims Hutchins; eight sisters, Lorene Miles, Maurita Ballard, Mary Grace Mattingly, Mary Ann Gardner, Sybil Blair, Mary Catherine Willett, Linda "Moe" Mills and Barbara Ann Southerland; six brothers, Leon, Gerald, Teenie, Harold, Marvin and Herb Hutchins.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Mattingly Hutchins; five children, Gerald Hutchins of Loretto, Bruce Hutchins (Frieda) of Bardstown, Beth Clark (Pat) of Lebanon, Michael Hutchins (Pam) of Loretto and Shannon Parish (Steven) of Raywick; 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister, Christine Lanham (Robert) of Loretto.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Monday, May 23, 2022 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 pm Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm. The prayer service and funeral service will be livestreamed onto the Mattingly Funeral Home facebook page.
