Obituary
Mary Huberta "Birdie" Donahue Cecil, age 74 of New Haven, passed away July 1, 2014 at her residence.
She was born September 8, 1939 in New Hope. She was a retired Registered Nurse with Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown and Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Albertus "Bert" Cecil, her parents, Nathan Hubert and Mary Clara Nalley Donahue and five brothers, Charles Nathan, James Sidney, Patrick Earl, Thomas Gerald and Francis William Donahue.
Survivors include her husband, Darell Cecil, three sons, Joe Cecil of New Hope, David Cecil (Nancy) of Lexington and Eric Cecil of Melody Lake, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one sister, Carolyn Bowman of Corydon, Indiana, one brother, Joseph Daniel "Danny" Donahue of Melody Lake, four step-daughters, Betty Cecil of Bardstown, Jean Cecil of Louisville, Donna Shofner (Scott) and Sharon Cecil all of New Haven, seven step-sons, Vincent Cecil (Diania), Roger Cecil (Tish)and Johnny Cecil (Nancy) all of Bardstown, Ricky, Tony and Brian Cecil all of New Haven and Gary Cecil (Mica) of Seymour, Indiana, 28 step-grandchildren and a number of step-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Saint Thomas Catholic Church, 870 Saint Thomas Lane, Bardstown. The Rev. Ken Fortener will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Sam Filiatreau.
