Mills
August 25, 1940 – January 13, 2025
James Walter "J.W." Mills, age 84 of Mount Washington, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born August 25, 1940 in Holy Cross. He was a former Plant Manager of Fire King International. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mount Washington. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and time at the lake with friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda "Moe" Hutchins Mills who died May 17, 2018; his son, Allen Mills who died April 28, 2024; two infant grandchildren, Travis and Cody Mills; his parents, Joseph Leo and Marguerite Blair Mills; one brother, Tommie Leo Mills.
Survivors include one son, Bryan Mills (Christy) and one daughter, Debbie Glasscock (Bruce) all of Mount Washington; three grandchildren, Erin Martin (Zach), Kindal Shunnarah (Anthony), and Andrew Glasscock (Nicole); four great grandchildren, Lyla Samuels, Gabrielle McConnell, Drew Glasscock, and Charlotte Martin; five siblings, Freddy Mills of Lebanon, Joe Paul Mills (June) of Lebanon, Libby Abell (Marion) of Louisville, Nan Mills (Linda) of Mount Washington, and Ursula Lafayette of Louisville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 am Friday, January 17, 2025, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto. Rev. Scott J. Wimsett will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where the Military Rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
The visitation is 3-8 pm Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are Andrew Glasscock, Bill Hutchins, Mark Hutchins, Stephen Hutchins, Gerald Hutchins, and Greg Mills.
Memorials may go to Hosparus Health Louisville or Mass of the Air.
