James Timothy "Kojak" Newton, age 63 of Washington County, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at his home. He was born February 13, 1962 in Marion County and was raised in Loretto. He formerly worked as an auto mechanic with American Tire in Bardstown. He also farmed and previously worked for Busick Construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Otho "Bud" and Catherine Lillian "Cattie" Newton; one stepson, Jonathan Anthony "A. J." Metcalf; one brother, Roger Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Arleen Greenwell Newton; two children, Misty Lawson and James Timothy "T. J." Newton, Jr., both of Louisville; seven grandchildren; one stepson, Christopher Metcalf (Amanda) of Bardstown; one step-daughter, Rachel Leeann Metcalf of Bardstown; eleven step-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Lawson of Cox's Creek and Lisa Hutchins (Doug) of Saint Francis; seven brothers, Keith Newton (Lisa) of Springfield, Ricky Newton (Donna), Calvin Newton, Terry Newton, and Dale Newton (Susan) all of Loretto, Les Newton, and Rob Newton, both of Louisville.
Graveside Services for James Timothy "Kojak" Newton will be held at noon Monday, May 19, 2025 at Holy Cross Cemetery. Mattingly Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
