James Neil Wilmouth, age 84 of Bardstown, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Flaget Memorial Hospital.  He was born May 28, 1940 in Nelson County.  He was a retired employee of General Electric Appliance Park with more than 20 years of employment.  He was a member of Saint Joseph Parish.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Martha Bartley Wilmouth, who died May 3, 2025; two daughters, Sue Ann Palmer and infant Margaret Rose Wilmouth; his parents, James Albert and Evelyn Rose Fields Wilmouth; three sisters, Barbara Downs, Sylvia Butts, and Betty Jo Davis.

Survivors include three children, Alan Wilmouth, Angie Campbell (Daniel), and Sheila Nalley (Craig) all of Bardstown; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial for James Neil and Martha Bartley Wilmouth will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Basilica of Saint Joseph Proto-Cathedral, 310 W. Stephen Foster Avenue, Bardstown.  Fr. Jacob Zulu will officiate.  Interment will follow in Saint Gregory Cemetery.

The visitation is 4-8 pm Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm.

Pallbearers are Craig Nalley, Cody Davis, Steve Bartley, Chris Morgan, Kaleb Palmer, and Keith Haytt.
