Janice Lee Newton, age 72 of Louisville, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
She was born December 15, 1941 in Saint Francis. She was a former homemaker and choir member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. She loved traveling to see the ocean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Susie Mae Mullins Mattingly; one sister, Delores Mae Mattingly; two brothers, Rudolph and Thomas Mattingly.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, John I. Newton; one daughter, Cindy Johnson (Walter) of Louisville; three sons, Bruce Newton (Rebecca Mae), John and Steve Newton, all of Louisville; four grandchildren, Mark and Russell Johnson, Joseph and Taylor Newton; two step-grandchildren, Chris and Courtney Dunn; one brother, Kenneth Mattingly of Lebanon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 PM Tuesday at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home, 8519 Preston Highway, Louisville and 2-8 PM Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. A prayer service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
