Patrick Jerome "Jerry" Ballard, Jr., age 74 of Holy Cross, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at Norton Audubon Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born May 26, 1950 in Marion County. Jerry was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He worked for Armour Food Company in Kentucky, Iowa and Missouri. Later, he and his wife operated the family dairy farm. Finally, Jerry was employed for twenty years in private corrections at Marion Adjustment Center and Lee Adjustment Center where he held several administrative positions. He loved gardening and yard work, considered himself an amateur handyman. Jerry greatly enjoyed the company of his granddaughters. He was a Catholic by faith.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Monica Mattingly Ballard; his brother, Robert Ballard; three brothers-in-law, Wayne Miles, Bill Corbett and Dickie Osborne; a niece, Shannon Ballard Pinkston; a nephew, Joseph Patrick Corbett; a great niece, Madeline Keene.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Beverly Jean Ziemann Ballard; a daughter, Angela Brown (Paul) of Buffalo; two sons, Chad Ballard (Sam) and Darrel Ballard (Stacy) all of Loretto; three sisters, Debbie Corbett and Denise Miles, both of Loretto and Cindy Osborne of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Bethany, Maria, Autumn, Michaela, Katelyn, Mason, and Braxton; one great grandson, William and one great grandchild on the way.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The visitation is 3-8 pm Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 pm.
Pallbearers are Jacob Downs, Paul Brown, Clayton Byrd, Scott Byrd, Nathan Benton, and Daniel Johnston; his grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
