Joseph Jerome "Jerry" Newton, age 67 of Saint Francis, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born February 16, 1951 in Holy Cross. He was a retired employee of the Nelson County Road Department with 28 years of service. He loved his grandbabies and "Newton Valley Farm".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Marie Newton; five sisters, Pauline Curtsinger, Nancy Mattingly, Judy Satterly, Susie Mattingly and infant Brenda Sue Newton; two brothers, Carl & David Newton.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Newton; four children, Jeremy Newton (Jacque) and Wendy Welch (Travis) all of Bardstown, Patrick Alvey (Stacy) and Amanda Carlton (David) all of Loretto; eleven grandchildren, Lexi Newton, Devan Newton, Janet Newton, Landon Miller, D.J. Carlton, Dallas Carlton, Cody Alvey, Ethan Alvey, Alivia Alvey, Jack Welch and Kade Welch; one sister, Mary Ann Willett (Freddie) of Bardstown.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will preside. Cremation will follow.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM.

Pallbearers are Craig Mattingly, Patrick Alvey, Jeremy Newton, Devan Newton, Scott Willett, Steve Mudd and Keith Willett. His grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
