He was born May 11, 1923 in Marion County, KY.
He was a former bookkeeper of the J-town Gateway, Real Estate broker, and a partner in Peterson-Battcher Lumber Company. He was a distinguished Army WWII veteran, a combat engineer with the 171st division, a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge, a Bronze Star recipient, founding donor of the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and a Kentucky Colonel.

FUNERAL MASS 10 AM Monday, April 23, 2007 at St. Martha Catholic Church - 2825 Klondike Lane, Louisville, KY
CHIEF CELEBRANT: Rev. Donald W. Springman
BURIAL : 1:30 PM Monday at Lebanon National Cemetery - Lebanon, KY
Military Rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard at the cemetery.
VISITATION: 3 PM till 9 PM Sunday at Ratterman Family Funeral Home - 3800 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY
VIGIL: 4 PM Sunday
