John Sidney "Med" Medley, Sr., age 89 of Springfield, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
He was born January 27, 1926 in Washington County. He was a lifelong Farmer; an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Manton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Louise Edelen Medley; his parents, Joseph Wallace Medley, Sr. and Mary Alma Simms; one brother, J. W. Medley, Jr.; one sister, Dorothy Blandford; one grandson, Michael Hamilton.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Mudd (Paul) of Louisville, Ruth Hamilton (Fred) of Bardstown and Mary Mattingly (Steve) of Loretto; one son, Johnny Medley (Marian) of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Bob Mudd, Bradley Hamilton, Chris Mudd, Beth Coats, Sonya Ash, Amanda Mattingly, Stephanie Johnson, Allyson Hamilton-McIntire, Brittany Alvey, Matthew Medley, Candace Mattingly; 17 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Manton, 6964 Cissellville Road, Manton. Rev. Ben Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Saint Rose Cemetery in Springfield where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 1-8 PM Saturday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM.
Pallbearers are Fred Hamilton, Paul Mudd, Steve Mattingly, Brad Hamilton, Bob Mudd, Matt Medley and Chris Mudd. Honorary Pallbearers are the granddaughters.
