John Robert Mattingly, 90, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born October 8, 1935, in Marion County, he retired from General Electric after many years of dedicated service. A lifelong musician and singer, he especially loved country music and dancing. Known as a true “jack of all trades,” he could turn his hand to just about anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Amos and Catherine Leake Mattingly; four siblings, Shirley Willett, Martha Alice Burress, Michael Mattingly, and Mary Catherine Abell.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Judith Luckett Mattingly; five children, Sheila Kelly (Earl) of Elizabeth, Indiana, Tim, Jeff, David, and Brad Mattingly, all of Louisville; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; four sisters, Carol Boggs, Cabrini Whatley, Generose Mitchell, and Angela Scharfenberger; two brothers, David and Richard Mattingly.
Funeral Services for John Robert Mattingly will be held at 1 pm Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate. Interment will follow in Saint Charles Cemetery.
The visitation is 11 am – 1 pm Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home.
