Joseph Edwin Darst, age 80 of Cox's Creek, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at UK Hospital in Lexington. He was born November 29, 1937 in Leitchfield. He was a former employee of General Electric and a former Nelson County School Bus Driver. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an avid coin collector and also enjoyed tinkering with old clocks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edwin and Mary Ellen Smallwood Darst; one sister, Betty Peerenboom; one brother, Charles Darst.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cordie Phelps Darst; three daughters, Joann Darst of Clarksville, Indiana, Edwinnia Wasdin (Joel) of Jacksonville, Florida and Datha Thompson (Eric) of Holy Cross; one son, Greg Darst of Holy Cross; five grandchildren, Burcu Darst, Joey Darst, Erica Thompson, Joshua Darst and Cory Thompson.

Funeral Services will be held at 7 PM Friday, June 8, 2018 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with cremation to follow. Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will preside.

Visitation is 3-7 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home.
