Joseph Freddy Mills

Joseph Freddy Mills, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the Village Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for several years. Born September 13, 1939 in Marion County, he was a retired employee of General Electric in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After retirement, he worked part time at Walmart for a few years. He found his greatest joy in spending time with family, friends and his beloved pets Rusty, Miss Kitty and Mr. Kit.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Mattingly Mills, his parents, Leo and Marguerite Mills, brothers J. W. Mills, Tommy Mills, a nephew, Allen Mills and infant twin great nephews, Cody and Travis Mills.

Survivors include two brothers, Joe Paul (June), Nan (Linda) and two sisters, Libby Abell (Marion) and Ursula Lafayette. Freddy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom he greatly enjoyed; friends, Joyce, Ryan, Tim and Charlotte.

Funeral Services for Joseph Freddy Mills will be held at 10 am Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto. Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The visitation is 4-8 pm Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 pm.

Pallbearers are Greg Mills, Brian Mills, Cory Mills, Neal Mills, Tony Abell, and Chris Minyard.
