Joseph Charles Kelty

Joseph Charles “Joe” Kelty, 82, of Manton, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. Born April 3, 1944 in Marion County, he was a Farmer and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton. He was a former employee of INOAC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Buckman and Rose Catherine Mattingly Kelty; two sisters, Mary Catherine Stahl and Jean Mattingly; three brothers, Robert Anthony Kelty, Thomas Kelty, Jr. and John Edward “Jack” Kelty.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Mattingly Kelty; four children, Tahmara Nycole Kelty and Charles Thomas Kelty, both of Manton, James David Riggs, Jr. (Holly Medley) of Springfield and Christy Renee Chesser of Liberty; 13 grandchildren, Thomas Logan Chesser, Waylen Garrett Chesser, Alexander Wayne Riggs, Zoey Elizabeth Beebe, Dalton Clyde Beebe, Railyn Beebe, Haylee Alexis Medley, Isabel Danielle Medley, Josey Brooke Medley, Quin Nicole Medley, Charles Ethan Thomas Kelty, Jason Anthony Kelty, and London Chanel Kelty; two great grandchildren; seven sisters, Ann Stillwell and June Slack, both of Louisville, Vickie Kelty of Springfield, Rosey Kelty and Brenda Spalding (Doug), both of Lebanon, Louise Nalley (Jackie) of Georgia and Mary Lillie Hill (Johnny) of Loretto; two brothers, Mike Kelty of Loretto and Frank Kelty of Holy Cross.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton. Rev. Augustine Judd, O.P. will officiate. Cremation will follow.

The visitation is 4-8 pm Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm.

Memorials may go toward funeral expenses.

Pallbearers are Tommy Kelty, Matthew Medley, Matthew Osborne, David Taylor, Frankie Taylor, Robbie Smith, Kevin Taylor, and Larry Stahl.
