Joyce Ann Norris, age 83 of Springfield, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Baptist Health in Louisville, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 3, 1935 in Marion County. She was a homemaker, farmer and a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church. In the early 1950's Joyce worked at the Loretto Motherhouse where she met the man who became her husband. For years she farmed alongside him raising their family. Her faith in God was always strong. She loved cooking, crocheting, old TV shows and all her babies. She was a wonderful loving woman loved by many and she leaves behind many sad hearts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Julian Nalley; her mother's Mary Ida Louise Mattingly Nalley and Naomi Marie Bell Nalley; her grandmother, Della Rose Nalley; one son, Thomas David Norris; four sisters, Judy Marie Nalley, Rhoda Della Metcalf, Mary Henrietta Fogle and Madonna Rose Bowman; one brother, Michael Edward Nalley.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Arthur Russell Norris; four daughters, Sherry Little of Springfield, Donna Bodie (Blaine) of Bardstown, Theresia Peterson (Donald) of Loretto and Stella Norris of Springfield; five sons, Wayne (Julie) of Hillsboro, MO, Michael (Debbie) of Lawrenceburg, John (Gina) of Frankfort, James (Marjorie) of Cynthiana and Christopher (Jackie) of Springfield; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Bartley of Bardstown, Patty Bruner (Greg) and Sue Miles (Danny) all of Saint Francis; seven brothers, Junior Nalley of Cox's Creek, Jerry Nalley of Raywick, Joe Nalley (Sherry) of Clarksville, TN, Jimmy Nalley of Loretto, Stephen "Sarge" Nalley of Saint Francis, Bert Nalley (Celia) of Hepzibah, GA, and Bruce Nalley of Loretto; three brothers-in-law, Bucky Metcalf of Bardstown, Randal Fogle of Holy Cross and Steve Bowman of Loretto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 868 Loretto Road, Springfield. Rev. T. Anthony Smith will preside. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Manton.
Visitation is 2-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Kevin A. McGrath, O.P.
