JOSEPH RUSSELL "J.R." BALLARD, age 88 of Bardstown, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Flaget Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 6, 1928 in Washington County. He was a retired Dairy Farmer and School Bus Driver.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Blanche Ballard; one daughter, Patsy Bartley; his parents, Arch and Elsie Corbett Ballard; three sisters, Rose Lyvers, Marita Palmer and infant Clara Mae Ballard; two brothers, Pat and John Ballard.

Survivors include two daughters, Penny Smith (Rick) and Polly Brothers all of Bardstown; one son, Archie Ballard (Mary) of Bardstown, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Birch of Bardstown; one brother, Mickey Ballard (Phyllis) of Samuels; his companion, Norma Lee Ballard.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto; The Rev. Deacon Scott Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in the Ballard Family Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Monday and 3-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Kurt Ballard, Archie Ballard, Duncan Brothers, Parmer Smith, Todd Bartley and Jerry Bartley; Honorary Pallbearer is his grandson, John Bartley.
