Joseph Richard "J.R." Mattingly, age 71 of Loretto, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Norton Hospital in Louisville.  He was born February 22, 1951 in Marion County.  He was a retired farmer.  He enjoyed working 1000-piece puzzles.

J.R. was preceded in death by his parents, John Richard and Pauline "Polly" Powell Mattingly; one sister, Lois Ann Washburn; one brother, Joseph Daniel "Skeeter" Mattingly.

Survivors include his two nephews, Billy Washburn (Jenny) of Lebanon and Wayne Washburn of Springfield; a special friend, Marie Hardin of Loretto.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  Cremation will follow.

Visitation is 3-8 pm Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home.
