Charles Kevin Thomas, age 62 of Lexington, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at his home. He was a loving husband, proudest father, soon to be proudest grandfather and a friend to many. Born October 22, 1958, in Loretto to Bee and Ruby Hutchins Thomas, Kevin was one of seven children. He was passionate about his work in the Standardbred horse industry, most notably Duke Duke and Justice Hall and his self-written software, Horse Cents. Racing in the 2004 and 2006 Hambletonian Stakes were among his proudest accomplishments.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Thomas and brother-in-law, Jeff Spalding.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Marsha Spalding Thomas; his daughter, Emily Nalley (Alex), and soon to be granddaughter, Lauren Grace; three sisters, Michelle Rapier, Mary Ponchio and Diane Decker; two brothers, Alan and Keith Thomas; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Virginia Spalding; one sister-in-law, Lisa Spalding Sherman; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Saint Augustine Catholic Church, 235 S. Spalding Ave., Lebanon. Rev. Mark Hamilton will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial Visitation will be held 3-8 pm Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
