Larry Richard Hawkins, Sr., age 69 of Loretto, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville.
He was born July 2, 1944 in Louisville. He was a retired Boilermaker, owner of Hawk's Place restaurant in Loretto and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Walter and Margaret Evelyn Grubbs Hawkins and five brothers, Bob, Jimmy, Albert, Ronnie and Paul Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Flanagan Hawkins, three sons, Larry Hawkins, Jr., Albert Hawkins (Sherri) and Joe Paul Hawkins (Deiserre) all of Loretto, one daughter, Margaret Hawkins of Loretto, three grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Daisy Hawkins, five sisters, Judy Hawkins, Gloria Wathen (Jimmy) all of Bardstown, Carol Hawkins of Louisville, Margie Greenwell (Jody) of Loretto, LaVerne Hickerson of Elizabethtown, four brothers, Doug Hawkins (Tina), Gary Hawkins (Linda) all of Loretto, Emile Hawkins (Barbara) of Louisville and Danny Hawkins (Joan) of Bardstown.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 2-9 PM Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 5 PM.
Pallbearers are David Bryan, Larry Hawkins, Jr., Emile Hawkins, Joe Paul Hawkins, Danny Hawkins, Doug Hawkins, Gary Hawkins and Albert Hawkins.
