A Bardstown resident, Mr. Francis Leon Donahue, age 93, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born December 29, 1929 in Nelson County to the late John Francis and Mary Marie Mattingly Donahue. Francis was a retired employee of Ford Motor Co. after 34 years and was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of American Legion Post 121. In 1980 he started making rosaries and he enjoyed making them for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Vittitow Donahue and a daughter, Cindy Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Betty Greenwell Donahue, 2 daughters, Diane (Joe) Hughes of Louisville, Sandra Renee (Keith) McGaughey of Waddy , 2 sons, Kent(Shawna) Donahue of Louisville, Jeffrey Leon Donahue of Mississippi, 2 stepdaughters, Mary "Peggy" Greenwell, Gail Robertson, both of Bardstown, 4 stepsons, Robert Eugene (Mary Ann) Greenwell, Jr. of Bardstown, James Earl (Martha) Greenwell, Joseph Paul (Deborah) Greenwell, both of Louisville, Richard Carl (Freida) Greenwell of Bardstown, 2 sisters, Doris Gorman, of Jacksonville Fl. Carol Tuttle of Lexington, 3 brothers, Thomas (Rose) Donahue, Jim(Betty Sue) Donahue, both of Bardstown, and Larry Donahue of Tennessee. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Francis Leon Donahue will be 11:00 am Tuesday February 14, 2023 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with Fr. Terry Bradshaw, celebrant. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00pm Monday and after 8:30 am Tuesday at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service Monday evening at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.  The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
