Leslie Hammond Sapp, age 89 of Loretto, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his home.  He was born May 4, 1933 in Phillipsburg.  He was a former tractor mechanic with Lawson Tractor and Implement in Lebanon.  He also operated Sapp's Garage in Loretto from 1960 – 1981.

Leslie was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Florence Cissell Sapp (died Dec. 1, 2018); one infant daughter, Rita Sapp; his parents, Edward and Mary Elizabeth Brown Sapp; eight siblings, Virgie Shively, Ira Sapp, Irene Hall, Marie Milby, Oliver Sapp, Lelia Murphy, Leome Buckman and Foster Sapp.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Sapp of Loretto, Jane Watson (Wayne) of Mannsville and Donna Thompson (Bill) of Calvary; three sons, John Sapp (Kaye) of Lebanon, Ricky Sapp of Loretto and Mark Sapp (Cathy) of Raywick; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Matilda Sapp of Louisville.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, which he helped build, 7066 Calvary Road, Phillipsburg.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  Burial will follow in Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 pm Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm.

Pallbearers are grandchildren, Robbie Sapp, Jeff Sapp, Greg Sapp, Courtney Taylor, Tanner Thompson, Tiffany Sapp, Tyler Sapp, Julie Robinson and Joe Ray Nugent; Honorary Pallbearers are great-grandchildren, Trenton Sapp, Willow Smith and Lane Sapp.
