Lois Thompson Leake, a devoted mother and dedicated member of the community, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was 89 years young.
Born on July 31,1933, in Springfield, KY, Lois was the daughter of loving parents who instilled in her a deep appreciation for faith, creativity, and family. She met the love of her life, James "Skeeter" Leake, and they were married for over 50 years until his passing in 2009. Together, they raised six children.
Lois was a gifted painter who had a passion for capturing the beauty of the world around her. A brilliant woman, she was well-versed in medicine and history, loved to travel, and experience new cultures. As a faithful child of God, she was a shining example of kindness, strength, and grace – a legacy that will live on through her beloved family and all who knew her.
Lois was preceded in death by her father, Bertrand Thompson, mother Martha (Sidney Hays) brother Tommy Thompson (Betty Jo), sister Mary Lou Carver, her husband, James "Skeeter" Leake, and her grandson, Chad Leake.
Lois is survived by her sister Joan Schoen, six children, Jimmy, Stephen, Bryan (Valerie), Laura (Steve), Lynne (David), and Mark; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren Lauren Elza (Brian), Chas Allen, Adam Leake, Catherine Leake, Lynsey Ryan (Chris), Blake Allen (Kelly), Sydney Barton (Will), Jordan Jones (Christina), Collin Jones (Anna), Conner Jones (Bailey), Nick Dunn (Samantha), Samuel Dick III (Sarah), Leah Dick, Taylor Dunn, Kristina Dunn, Christina Hendrickson (Robert); and great-grandchildren Braelyn, Lincoln, Baylor, Amelia, Skylar, Liam, Samuel IV, and Madeline.
Lois' life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Visitation will be held at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon, Kentucky from 9:30 to 11:30, followed by Mass at St Augustine Church at 12:00. A luncheon and burial service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Augustine Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
