Louis "Louie" Bertrand Miles, age 83 of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 24, 1940, in Loretto, KY.   Louie was Traffic Manager of Belknap Bluegrass Hardware from 1958 until they closed in 1986, then eventually retired from Rohm & Haas Chemical Company where he worked for 15 years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, gambling and basically anything else he could tinker with.  He especially enjoyed his weekend trips to the Mills' Nolin cabin with old friends and many brothers-in law.  Even with the progression of his disease, those memories were never lost.  He was an avid UK and NASCAR fan.

Louie is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lorene Hutchins Miles; his parents Walter and Katie Miles; one sister, Linda Medley; four brothers, JW, Bobby, Frankie, and Elmer.

Survivors include his son, Chris Miles (Tracy) of Boiling Springs, SC; daughter, Rachel Shoopman (Ronde) of Louisville; four grandchildren, Ashley Cain (Jesse), Justin Miles (Rachel), Alex Miles and Ericka Cross (Bobby); two great-grandsons, Deacon Cain and Theo Miles, and a third on the way (Oliver); three sisters, Betty Lou Thompson, Theresa Hamilton (Leon), both of Loretto and Mary Catherine Lamkin (Billy) of Taylorsville.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis, KY.  Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-8 PM Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Rd, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 PM by the Rev. Deacon Donald Coulter.
