Obituary

Marjorie Catherine "Margie" Ballard, age 89 of Holy Cross, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx.

She was born June 5, 1925 in Manton. She was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown. She also formerly worked at Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown and Cowden Sewing Factory in Springfield. She was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anthony "Tony" Ballard, her parents, Charles Edward and Marie Aline Mattingly, one sister, Aline Vittitow and three brothers, Jim Ed Mattingly, Charles Thomas Mattingly and Joseph David Mattingly, Sr.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Ballard (Wayne)of Rineyville and Carlotta Elder (Greg) of Loretto; two sons, Mark Ballard (Linda) and Greg Ballard (Ann) all of Holy Cross, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Delores Blady and Elaine Reynolds both of Louisville, Frances "Borgia" Phillips (George) of Scottsdale, Pennsylvania, Monica Ballard and Evelyn Fenwick of Bardstown and Diane Devine (Wally) of Willisburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday, July 14, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 North Saint Francis Road, Loretto, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Emil Kandor will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 3-8 PM Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Memorial donations may go toward Masses or the Holy Cross Cemetery Fund.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Stewart Ballard, Joe Mark Ballard, Jeremy Elder, Tony Ballard, Adam Elder and Troy Ballard
