William Marion Miles, age 79 of Crestwood, formerly of Saint Francis, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Louisville East Post Acute. He was born February 4, 1942 in Loretto. He was a retired Fuel Truck Driver with Haydon Oil Company in Springfield and he served his country in the U. S. Army Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Leon and Mary Josephine Hornback Miles; two sisters, Rita Faye Graham and Darlene O'Bryan; five brothers, Leon, Melvin, Sammy, Tommy and Graves Miles.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Edith Thompson Miles; one daughter, Glenda Menard of Crestwood; two grandchildren, Richard Menard (Morgan) and Regan Bream (Jake) all of Crestwood; four great granddaughters, Addison, Sadie, Annabelle and Ryane; one sister, Deverial Livers of Lebanon; four brothers, Johnny Miles (Diane) of Louisville, Gordie Miles of Lebanon, Bernard Miles (Rosalind) of Lebanon and Danny Miles (Jackie) of New Haven; one sister-in-law, Janice Miles of Loretto; one brother-in-law, Tommy O'Bryan of Shepherdsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto. Rev. Tom Clark will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are Billy Thompson, Mel Miles, Fred Kirchhoff, Chris Livers, John Thompson and Jake Bream. Honorary pallbearers are brothers Bernard, Danny, Johnny, and Gordie Miles. Carl Meredith, Joe Thompson and Richard Menard.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral home is limited to 60 % occupancy, face coverings are required, and food or drink are prohibited. The services will be livestreamed onto the Mattingly Funeral Home facebook page.
